Yesterday, First United Community Ministry Office opened its doors to serve our DTES neighbourhood community at 360 Jackson Avenue.
The opening ceremony was led by Lauren Sanders, Indigenous Spiritual Care Chaplain, and Dr. Cheryl Bear, Director of Community Ministry.
Melaney Gleeson-Lyall, of the Point family in Musqueam and the Bob family in Snuneymuxw First Nation, shared her family’s story and performed a blessing for the new community office. She spoke of her family’s legacy of founding Vancouver city and her commitment to community, built on the foundations her ancestors.
We are so grateful for all the support we’ve had to make this happen and are excited for what the future holds for this sunny, welcoming, community space.
Special thanks to Rev. Dr. Carmen Lansdowne, Executive Director, Dr. Heather Clarke, Board Chair, and Gillian McLead, Managing Director.
